Taking an important step
April 30, 2018
“When we are lowered into the water, it is like the burial of Jesus; when we are raised up out of the water, it is like the resurrection of Jesus. Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.” Romans 6:4-5 (The Message)
People who encountered Jesus said things like, “I was blind, and now I can see.” They had a turning point in their life that hinged on Jesus and their encounter with him. There was an old life, and now a new life. Perhaps for you, that moment has happened in your life, is currently happening, or is something that is about to happen – we want to help mark that moment with you though the practice of baptism on Sunday, May 20th in our worship service.
We make a regular practice of baptism because, just like Paul writes in Romans, it raises us into a light-filled world by our Father. Baptism becomes an important marker in our life where we set out in a new direction and take hold of a desire to follow Jesus in a new and significant way. It’s our chance to step out of the darkness and live in the light.
I’d like to encourage you today to consider whether God might be inviting you into such a turning point today. Is it time to celebrate a decision to live a new life in Christ?
“Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created.” Esther 4:14
